Warm paper, sage and straw suggest a botanical journal or a craft identity. Deep ink keeps the words distinct.

Sage green holds something of a garden after rain: a quiet leaf, a silver edge, room for the light. To carry that feeling into a project, begin with a precise reference. Our colour directory uses #689D71, or RGB 104, 157, 113. Other guides choose different shades. Compare those values below, then try four palettes with defined roles and checked text contrast.
Catalogues do not share one universal code. These references produce different colours under the same name. Choose your shade, then keep its explicit value throughout the design.
| Reference | HEX | RGB |
|---|---|---|
| Toutes les couleurs directory | #689D71 | 104, 157, 113 |
| HTML Color Codes | #8A9A5B | 138, 154, 91 |
| Canva | #B2AC88 | 178, 172, 136 |
Our reference is greener; the HTML Color Codes version leans towards olive, while Canva’s is greyer and more golden. These descriptions compare only the values shown. In CSS, use an explicit HEX value or rgb() function.
Ivory, dusty rose, terracotta or muted blue: each neighbour tells a different sage story. Our compositions assign a background, sage shade, text ink and accent. Their poetic names are not paint references.

A soft palette still needs words with a clear voice. On #689D71, black has a contrast ratio of 6.65:1; white reaches only 3.16:1. White therefore misses the WCAG AA minimum of 4.5:1 for normal text. The ink selected for each palette exceeds that threshold on both its light background and its sage swatch.
| Palette | Ink on light background | Ink on sage |
|---|---|---|
| Herbarium and linen | 13.42:1 | 4.88:1 |
| Evening rose | 12.18:1 | 6.18:1 |
| Earth after rain | 12.66:1 | 5.00:1 |
| Lake and leaves | 13.76:1 | 4.93:1 |
Ratios use WCAG relative luminance for opaque sRGB colours. Photos, transparency and gradients need fresh checks. Also review links, focus and states: text contrast alone does not validate an entire interface. WCAG method and thresholds.
For an invitation or website, place sage beside your actual photographs and type. Neighbouring colours change its appearance. Keep one main reference and assign additional shades a clear role.
For paint and fabric, HEX palettes are mood studies. Obtain a sample, place it beside timber, flooring and textiles, then inspect it at different times of day. For print, agree paper, process and profile with your printer. No exact RAL, Pantone or CMYK match is inferred from a screen value.
Names overlap between catalogues. Compare values and samples: #8A9A5B gives a more olive direction here than #689D71.
